Blue Water Bridge Plaza and Corridor Expansion Project

Port Huron, Michigan

The Blue Water Bridge Plaza and Corridor Expansion Project project entailed reconstruction of over two miles of existing freeway, relocation of the existing Welcome Center, replacement of the Black River Bridge and expansion of the existing plaza from 18 acres to 56 acres. It was deemed especially vital after 9/11, since the improvements would allow for the introduction of new inspection technologies, procedures and policies to enhance security at this international border.

TEC was retained by MDOT to conduct pre-demolition asbestos surveys of approximately 80 sites consisting of a mix of single-family, multi-family residences and commercial buildings to support property acquisition and demolition of those sites.
