TEC was retained to provide construction materials testing (CMT) and inspection services for the mixed-use project that will ultimately bring over 400 apartments and 30,00 square feet of retail space to historic Corktown; the oldest surviving neighborhood in the City of Detroit.
The first phase of the project was completed in 2018 and cost an estimated $45 million to develop. An estimated $6.9 million in funding was received from the Michigan Community Revitalization Program.
The revitalization of Corktown was kicked off by the Ford Motor Company’s purchase and redevelopment of The Factory building at Michigan Avenue and Rosa Parks Boulevard. That along with the redevelopment of the former Tiger Stadium and purchase and proposed redevelopment of the ill-fated train station has sparked a renewed excitement for the area.
