GM Factory Zero

General Motors’ Hamtramck assembly plant has a new name — Factory Zero — marking a commitment to an all-electric, zero-emissions lineup.

GM has vowed to invest $2.2 billion to retool the former 4.1 million square foot Hamtramck assembly plant that sits on 365 acres for 100% EV production. This investment is the largest in GM history. Production of several new EV’s is planned for the next few years.

TEC was retained by Walbridge to provide construction materials testing services for this massive transformation project to include site earthwork /site utility backfill testing and monitoring; foundation inspection; concrete inspection, sampling and testing; structural steel inspection; masonry construction inspection; and quality control inspection of roofing installation.
