Henry Ford Health Macomb – New Patient Tower

TEC was retained to provide geotechnical engineering, building and infrastructure engineering, and construction materials testing services for the Henry Ford Macomb expansion project to include a new approximately 225,000 square feet, 160 bed, patient tower addition on the campus’ north side.

TEC’s scope included soil borings, geotechnical investigation, roofing observation, curtain wall system testing, fireproofing density testing, water proofing inspection, crack monitoring, air & vapor barrier installation inspection, floor flatness testing, and sieve analysis.

A two-story bridge above the existing north entrance connects the new tower to the existing hospital. The project also included an 11,600-square-foot expansion of the hospital’s power plant and provide enhanced infrastructure to service the new tower and existing hospital house. Additional parking and other site improvements were also part of the project. The new tower was completed in May 2023.
